No that's not a hand puppet, although we wish it were. Since Grammy sliced open her right pinky and our departing on time was up in the air, we are happy to report everythings a go.
One last therapy session and Grammys given the all clear to head south. Whew!
We love leaving this time of year because of the beautiful colours.
The border crossing went well and we're at our first stop just out of Flint Michigan. No problem except that we had water running out of Harvey when I went out in the morning to put everything away for travel. I had to crawl into the cupboard and tighten a water nut that came loose when we put the slide out in. It's happened before; took about 10 minutes.
Once we're all set up, we like to take a walk around the RV parks we stop at and check out the lay of the land. This park is having early halloween and some of the decorating is amazing. Sure scared Grammy.
Any hiking trail is fair game so we took this hike around the lake.
Just an overnighter and on to our next stop in Sawyer Michigan, just on the edge of Lake Michigan. I know all these pictures of Harvey parked look the same to an untrained eye but for us intrepid travelers they are worlds apart. For example, the difference between this stop and the last...?
Well,, this one has a picnic table. Are you starting to see the subtleties of my photo genius.
We can't be beside one of the Great Lakes without visiting even if it's just above freezing and a 25 mile an hour wind. A beautiful park; I bet it's jumping in the summer.
It's a great beach with really nice sand. And it goes on for miles. They have over 1.5 million visitors each summer. I guess being 50 miles from Chicago may help.
I'm dressed in a good fall jacket and wished I had put on my parka. And there were a dozen or so folks surf sailing out there. Brrrr. Next stop was lunch and lots of hot coffee. Then back to Harvey to rehook the jeep and get ready to travel to Iowa. That post will be a blast, stay tuned.
